(ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1
year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings.
Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be
considered. A K-12 Sign Language Interpreter position is available
in the Virginia Beach area, supporting elementary-age students in a
full-time, contract role through June 16, 2026. This opportunity
primarily involves 1:1 interpreting services, with flexibility to
provide coverage at multiple school locations as needed.
Responsibilities: Provide clear and effective sign language
interpretation for deaf or hard-of-hearing students. Work closely
with individual students to support their communication needs in
various classroom settings. Maintain flexibility to serve different
campuses depending on student attendance. Utilize Visaphonics as a
preferred communication method when appropriate, though it is not
mandatory. Collaborate with educators and staff to facilitate
inclusive learning environments. Qualifications: Valid Virginia
Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification is
required. An EIPA score of 3.5 or higher is strongly preferred;
candidates with a 3.0 or above or a QAS score of 3 or better will
also be considered. Experience interpreting in K-12 educational
settings is beneficial but not mandatory. Strong communication
skills and the ability to work independently are essential.
Availability for onsite work Monday through Friday, averaging 35
hours per week. Part-time, itinerant opportunities may be
considered. Details: Location: Virginia Beach, VA (multiple schools
within the district) Contract duration: Immediate start through
June 16, 2026 Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday; part-time
