Responsibilities for this Registered Nurse opportunity include, but are not limited to:
• Provide and coordinate care by assessing the physical and behavioral health needs of patients
• Manage a diverse adult patient population, including patients with depression and suicidal tendencies, severe mental illness, or a mix of both
• Maintain medical records and educates patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions
• Administer psychiatric medications and monitor patients for therapeutic effects and side effects
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and crises, implementing appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety
• Handle de-escalations and restraints, if necessary, following facility protocols
• Maintains accountability of administration, recording, control, and security of medications, including narcotics
• Conduct 10-15 daily patient assessments, with a focus on mental health status and potential risks
• Be willing to float to any unit within the facility, which may include a small detox unit
• Work with an approximate staffing ratio of 1:12, with at least two nurses per unitJOB REQUIREMENTS FOR THE RN REGISTERED NURSE:
• 1+ years of recent psychiatric/behavioral health experience
• BLS issued through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Current Virginia RN license
• Handle with Care certification preferred
