Serco is looking for A Senior Mechanical Assembler to join a high-profile and challenging project supporting the US Navy in Newport News, VAThe Senior Mechanical Assembler will be on a dynamic team, supporting our C5ISR system installationsBring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our SailorsSERCO supports the U.S Naval Ships with military and system installationsYou will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed onboard U.SNaval Ships and military installationsIn this role, you will:--- Possibly supervise a small team.--- Follow blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic assemblies.--- Work onboard U.SNaval Ships and military installations in an area that is somewhat uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, temperature variations and the like and with equipment where carelessness would probably result in minor cuts, bruises, muscle strains, serious injury, or death.--- Be attentive to safety (which is critical).--- Demonstrate the ability to working with blueprints, assembly drawings and sketches in completing a wide variety of assembly and subassembly tasks.--- Be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this fieldQualifications To be successful in this role, you will have:--- A High School Diploma.--- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance--- The ability to obtain and gain access to shipyards (NAVSTA & DBIDS), undergo a background investigation and pass a drug screening--- 8 + years of experience--- The ability to use power tools, assembling both large scale and intricate mechanical assemblies--- Experience in the fabrication and precision assembly of various mechanical assemblies--- The ability to get respirator qualified and wear proper PPE throughout their work shift--- Willing to work more than 40 hour work weeks--- The ability to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position--- The ability and be willing to travel up to 10% to various work sites--- The ability to work in Newport News, VA Additional desired experience and skills:--- An active DoD secret clearance--- Shipyard experience--- OSHA Certification If you are interested in supporting and working with our team across the globe on a passionate, talented, and diverse Serco team- then submit your application now for immediate considerationIt only takes a few minutes and could change your career!
