machinists in the M53 Machine Shop play a critical role in
supporting defense manufacturing operations. \n Machinists here
help produce and maintain precision components used in large-scale
naval shipbuilding and ship repair operations . \n \n The Work
You’ll Be Doing\n In this role, you will: \n \n Operate manual and
CNC machining equipment used in naval shipbuilding \n Work with
machines such as lathes, mills, vertical machining centers, and
horizontal boring mills \n Perform machining operations to produce
precision components used in naval vessels \n Troubleshoot
machining operations and adjust processes when required \n Perform
dimensional inspections to ensure parts meet engineering drawing
specifications \n Use precision inspection tools to verify
tolerances and measurements \n Work within a large industrial
shipyard environment , which may involve heights, confined spaces,
and varying conditions \n Collaborate with machinists, supervisors,
and production teams to maintain quality and production standards
\n \n \n Machines, Controls & Equipment\n Machinists may work with
equipment such as: \n Machines \n \n CNC Lathes \n CNC Mills \n
Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) \n Horizontal Boring Mills \n
Manual machining equipment \n \n Inspection Tools \n \n Micrometers
\n Calipers \n Precision measurement tools \n Blueprint-based
inspection methods \n \n \n Materials You’ll Work With\n \n Alloy
steels \n Stainless steels \n Structural metals used in naval

ForRequired\n \n 3 years of CNC machining experience \n Ability to
understand and follow written instructions \n Strong mechanical
aptitude and math skills \n Experience operating manual or CNC
machining equipment \n Ability to read and interpret technical
drawings and machining instructions \n Comfortable working in a
shipyard or industrial manufacturing environment \n U.S.

Shipbuilding offers a $10,000 total bonus package for experienced
machinists. \n $5,000 Sign-On Bonus Paid upon start date and
subject to state and federal taxes. \n $5,000 Relocation Bonus Paid
upon start date and grossed up. \n Travel Support \n New hires also
receive $1,000 to travel to Newport News, VA for their
pre-employment physical and drug screening. \n Employees who
voluntarily resign or are terminated for violation of company
regulations before completing 12 months of employment must repay
