Job Description:
Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry
invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). This position encompasses teaching,
mentoring, and supervising OMFS residents and dental students in
patient care and practice preparation, with emphasis on practice
management and operations. Academic rank, tenure eligibility, and
salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and
qualifications. Additional incentive salary arrangements will be
available through the faculty practice plan. Responsibilities:
Teach in an integrated curriculum system, including graduate and
professional education across departmental lines in
multidisciplinary teams Provide clinical and didactic instruction
to pre-doctoral students and OMFS post-doctoral residents Lead
teaching in OMFS clinics and operating rooms, seeing patients and
collaborating with faculty/staff Participate in research protocols
and collaborate with OMFS research programs Serve on departmental
and university committees Required Qualifications: DDS or DMD
degree Completion of approved OMFS residency program Eligibility
for Virginia licensure Board-certified or active certification
candidate Ability to teach practice management through clinical and
didactic experiences Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an
environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a
population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and
experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Demonstrated teaching/mentoring ability incorporating adult
learning theory, evidence-based care, innovation, and critical
thinking Ability to contribute to a humanistic learning environment
Adaptability to change and modern technologies Preferred
Qualifications: Oral surgery teaching experience with graduate
students and post-doctoral residents Advanced outpatient and
