Job Description Job Description Inside Machinist (ISM) – Large Machine (Newport News, VA) LEAD Marine Division Newport News, VA, USA Full-Time | Contract Benefits Available Pay: • Local: $37.50/hr • Non-Local: $37.50/hr $145/day per diem Shift: Full-Time, 40 hrs/week We are hiring an experienced Inside Machinist (ISM) – Large Machine in Newport News, VA to support complex machining operations on large industrial and shipyard components. The Inside Machinist – Large Machine role focuses on precision machining, tight-tolerance measurement, and expert operation of large lathes, mills, and boring machines. Responsibilities • Set up and operate large lathes, mills, boring machines, and other machine tools. • Verify machining dimensions using micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and indicators. • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and GD&T requirements. • Maintain tool offsets, replace tooling, and ensure accurate machine operation. • Document work, maintain production records, and uphold all quality and safety standards. Requirements • Minimum 3 years of machinist experience; large machine experience strongly preferred. • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, indicators, bore gauges, height gauges). • Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and GD&T. • HS Diploma or GED required. • Must pass background check and drug screening.
