The manager should be knowledgeable in aerospace and/or space quality and mission excellence processes and requirements.As a key leader, partner and essential member of the Quality and Mission Excellence leadership team in the Tactical Space Systems Division, the Manager 2 will lead a high performing team of quality engineers, quality analysts and mission assurance personnel to support company operations and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.Note: This requirements of this position are expected to allow for some flexibility to work in a hybrid teleworking role, subject to Program and organizational needs.Role and Responsibilities:Leads collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Performance Management/Supplier Quality and Global Supply Chain to ensure quality is inherent in every requirement, design, work product, and end-product delivered by Northrop GrummanEngages on the shop floor and in work activities to provide direct support as needed while additionally coaching and mentoring facility personnel in quality methods and proceduresEstablishes and manages performance metrics to facilitate continuous improvement activitiesEnsures policies, procedures, and processes are in place to assure the performance and quality of products with conformance to established standards, specifications and customer requirementsLeads root cause and corrective action analyses (RCCA) and failure investigations for high impact issues and teaches/coaches/mentors personnel in use of RCCA for lower level issuesLeads efforts to identify and mitigate quality and performance risks using advanced product quality planning (APQP) methods, FMEAs, and early design and supplier engagementEnsures compliance with the Quality Management System through execution of internal surveillances and auditsManagement representative for third party and customer auditsDevelops and operates within departmental budgets for indirect costs and overheadProvides guidance and mentoring to direct reports based on goals, objectives, and company policyProvides performance reviews and periodic feedback for all direct reportsBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in a technical field plus at least 14 years related work experience or equivalent additional experience, or Master's Degree plus at least 12 years related work experienceExcellent oral and written communication, data analysis and problem-solving skillsExtensive prior work experience in the application of quality principles and practices (e.G., quality engineering, inspection, material review, etc.) related to the engineering and manufacture of machinery and structuresAbility to successfully engage at all levels of the organization, from the shop floor to executive leadership, to provide solutions and coach and mentor others in the use of quality principles and practices.Experience with Earned Value Management.Ability to document, plan and manage projectsDemonstrated problems solving skills in a manufacturing environmentExperience applying advanced product quality planning and mission assurance practices (e.G., risk reduction, system engineering principles, and full life cycle product support)Demonstrated ability to work with minimal oversight and in a multi-discipline team environment, providing insight and solutions to complicated technical issuesDemonstrated experience in acquiring, developing, and leading teams of professional employeesAble to work and lead effectively in a team settingAbility to travelAbility to obtain a DOD security clearancePreferred Qualifications:Experience with ISO 9001 or AS9100 based quality management systemsExperience conducting or managing internal auditsExperience with supplier quality and DOD contractsExpertise in Earned Value ManagementPrior satellite, launch system, or propulsion systems experienceSalary Range: $118,600 USD $178,000 USDEmployees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
