Description
The Newport News Sheriff's Office is in the process of implementing
a Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program to help those opioid
and alcohol dependent. MAT will enhance existing substance abuse
treatment services within the jail and community. The recovery case
manager will play an integral role both inside and outside the
jail. They will work closely with a multidisciplinary team
consisting of jail administrators and staff, medical providers,
program staff (counselors, re-entry specialists), and community
partners such as CSB and others.
This position is full-time and will manage the coordination of
services for MAT participants, pre-release, and post-release. This
position will be vital to the follow-up support after release and
will be the main point of contact for local probation offices,
community service boards, mental health/other service providers,
re-entry, and peer recovery support specialists (PRSS). Case
management will be supported using Lauris Online. This system is
designed to meet the needs of clinicians, counseling professionals,
and re-entry specialists.
Will manage client cases from intake to discharge. This entails
monitoring client progress for treatment plan objectives, assisting
with post-discharge planning, monitoring compliance, and assisting
with scheduling post-release treatment needs.
Essential Functions
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Bachelor's degree in a human services field.
Two years' experience in a human services field (i.e., Psychology,
Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health).
Two or more years of experience working with adults with mental
health/substance abuse disorders; preferably in jail-based and
community-based programs. One or more years' experience working
with criminal justice agencies.
Prefer Master's Degree in a human services field (i.e. Psychology,
Sociology, Social Work, Counseling, Public Health).
QMHP-A - Registration
CSAC - Certification
Experience supervising subordinates in a team environment
Additional Information & Requirements
Work Schedule: Flexible schedule Monday thru Friday, evenings and
weekends as needed.
