Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years required, travel experience required License: Compact or state license in hand required Certifications: BLS, ACLS required via American Heart Association Must-Have: EPIC proficiency, IV Start, Telemetry Interpretation Description: Chesapeake is located in a beautiful area known as Coastal Virginia. It is just minutes away from a popular beach destination. Chesapeake offers trails for all levels of hikers and over 20 waterways to explore. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:7. Candidates must ensure no prior license or background hits. The Medical-Surgical/Renal/Diabetes unit operates on a night shift. Weekdays, every other weekend, floating, and holidays are required within the contract. Candidates must indicate their preference for 3x12 or 4x12 shifts. Overtime is applicable after 48 hours on a 4x12 schedule. Skills required include IV start and telemetry interpretation. Candidates must have a current NURSYS report. All requested time off must be included with the application. COVID-19 vaccination is not required. Flu vaccination is required, with medical or religious exemptions allowed. Fit testing requirements must be met; candidates with a history of fit test issues will not be considered. EKG testing is essential for specific units. There is one attempt allowed for the EKG test, and a score of 80% or higher is required to pass. Modules are billable, and 3 hours of online training is required before starting. Orientation is 16 hours and is non-billable.
