a qualified Oncology RN in Norfolk, Virginia, 23507! Job Title:
Registered Nurse - Pediatric Oncology Profession: Registered Nurse
Specialty: Pediatric Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Any Hours
per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 18 months of experience in an
acute and chronic care setting with solid oncology experience.
License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: APHON
Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Status, PALS, and BLS
Certification Must-Have: Flu vaccination required with no
exemptions. Description: The role involves providing attentive care
to patients with all types of cancer diagnoses. You will be
responsible for administering chemotherapy, blood components, fluid
and electrolyte replacements, and oncology treatments. Assessing
patient conditions and managing side effects are key components of
this position. Emotional support for patients and their families is
essential. The ideal candidate will display appropriate
prioritization skills in a fast-paced setting. The inpatient
Hematology Oncology unit includes a 16-bed capacity. Most patients
will have a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, which may fluctuate to 4:1
if med/surg patients are present. There will be a charge RN present
without patient assignments each shift. A team lead RN, also
without a patient assignment, will assist with double checks on
high alert drugs, procedures, and patient transport. Nursing Care
