Job Details / Travel Nurse Overview - Position: Travel ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro ICU focus - Location: Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Chesapeake travel nurse jobs / Coastal Virginia nursing jobs) - Start Date: March 23, 2026 - End Date: June 22, 2026 - Contract Length: 13 weeks - Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30) — Night shift ICU RN - Schedule: 3x12 or 4x12 per week (candidate preference considered; overtime applies after 48 hours for 4x12 contracts) - Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,910 – $2,010 (travel nurse pay range) - Unit: ICU (Neuro focus) — Neuro ICU RN / Critical Care Nurse - Patient Ratios: 1:2–3 - Weekend/Holiday: Rotating weekends and holidays - Float: Required to Stepdown; may float to ED/MedSurg for ICU-level holds Required Qualifications — Registered Nurse (RN) - Licensure: Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license (must be in hand at time of submission) - Experience: Minimum 1 year recent ICU experience required; 3 years critical care experience preferred - Neuro ICU Skills: Strong neuro experience required (post-neurosurgical care, EVD/ICP monitoring, stroke management) - Certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA); NIHSS required - Charting / EMR: Epic proficiency required (Epic experience for ICU RN) - Testing: Must pass EKG/telemetry competency exam (80% required; no remediation) - Travel Requirements: Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility (address verification required) - Background: No prior license or background hits accepted - Pre-Start: Approximately 3 hours of billable pre-start modules required - Vaccinations: Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required Key Responsibilities — ICU Registered Nurse - Deliver safe, evidence-based care to critically ill adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in a high-acuity Neuro ICU - Manage complex Neuro ICU patients (post-craniotomy care, EVD/ICP monitoring, acute stroke interventions) - Provide advanced respiratory and hemodynamic support (ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, IV drip titration) - Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid responses and code situations - Administer and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips, sedation, and paralytics per protocols - Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, and social work - Float as needed to Stepdown, Emergency Department, or MedSurg to support ICU-level patients - Document accurately and efficiently in Epic (timely charting, handoffs, and compliance with unit policies) Why Join Us — Travel Nurse Benefits & Location - 13-week travel nurse assignment with competitive weekly pay for ICU RNs - Gain high-acuity Neuro ICU experience to advance your critical care nursing career - Work in a supportive ICU team environment in Coastal Virginia—outdoor recreation, waterways, and easy access to Virginia Beach and Norfolk - Flexible scheduling options (3x12 or 4x12) to match your preferences Chesapeake offers an excellent quality of life for travel nurses and critical care professionals.
