Job Duties This individual will investigate and facilitate the
resolution of consumer privacy complaints, including those
implicating Virginia’s new Consumer Data Protection Act. This
individual will utilize alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
methods such as facilitation and conciliation to resolve privacy
disputes between consumers and businesses. In addition, this
individual will work with Consumer Protection Section attorneys to
develop enforcement actions and provide litigation support as
needed. Such duties include conducting consumer and witness
interviews; managing documents and other evidence obtained from
consumers, witnesses, targets, defendants, and third parties,
including Bates-stamping, indexing, reviewing, coding, scanning,
copying, and filing; assisting in preparation of responses to
discovery requests; and assisting in preparation for hearings and
trials. Routine interaction with state/federal officials,
businesses, and the general consuming public is required. Minimum
Qualifications Qualified candidates should have knowledge and
experience in consumer privacy and consumer protection laws,
customer service, and ADR techniques. Position requires
well-developed written and oral communication skills, proficiency
in time management, the ability to work independently and as a team
member, and the ability to organize and analyze large quantities of
written and verbal information. Candidate must demonstrate the
ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and to
adjust priorities without close supervision. Candidates also should
be able to interact effectively with a diverse workforce and the
general public. Proficiency using personal computers is required,
and a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and
databases is preferred. Additional Considerations Preferred
candidates will possess a B.A. or B.S. college degree in criminal
justice, public administration, political science, government, or a
related field; or the equivalent combination of experience,
training, and education in consumer privacy, law enforcement,
regulatory enforcement, or investigations. Special Instructions
