Asset Planner (Engineering Project Manager)
The Asset Planner (AP) is responsible for all aspects of project
management of asset management projects including sustaining
engineering tasks and projects, maintenance projects, upgrade
projects, capital projects, acquisition projects, and disposal
projects. The AP is responsible for controlling project scope and
costs, and presenting engineering designs and operational
readiness. This position is expected to travel periodically for
factory acceptance tests, vendor site visits or to lead engineering
project execution in the field as Site Lead.
The AP is involved in all Life Cycle Management phases and is
assigned specific Service Areas to lead the business needs
analysis, Asset Management Planning, asset condition monitoring,
upgrade, operations, and maintenance, and disposal for range
systems. The AP is involved in the procurement process for their
assigned assets, approving purchase requests after ensuring they
comply with the Asset Management Plan, are coordinated against
scheduled activities (such as maintenance and deployments) and is
appropriate according to long term plans. The AP generates
lifecycle management documents such as the Asset Management Plan
and leads the sustaining engineers assigned to their service areas.
APs are expected to have or obtain a Certified Reliability Leader
(CRL) rating from Association of Maintenance Professionals (or
similar) and a Project Management Professional (PMP) rating from
the Project Management Institute and expected to certify as Site
Lead. Highly qualified candidates will already have these
College degree is required. Highly qualified candidates will
have 5 or more years of experience managing engineering projects.
This position is located at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, VA and
the Asset Planner will be responsible for launch range systems such
as radar, telemetry, command & control, optical, data, and network
systems; highly qualified candidates will have experience in range
operations and engineering.
