Craft Machine Works is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to join their team in Hampton, VA!

Hours: 7:00am to 3:30pm - Voluntary overtime opportunities!

Responsibilities:



Machine Operation and Set-Up:Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, or CNC machines.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
Monitor machine performance, adjust as necessary, and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and equipment.


Precision Machining:Perform machining operations such as turning, milling, drilling, boring, or grinding to shape and finish workpieces.
Ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to specified tolerances.
Monitor and control cutting conditions, speeds, and feeds for optimal machining results.
Use precision measuring instruments, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to verify part dimensions.
Make necessary adjustments to maintain quality standards throughout the machining process.


Tooling and Tool Maintenance:Select appropriate cutting tools, tool holders, and fixtures for specific machining tasks.
Set tool offsets and perform tool changes as needed.
Maintain and sharpen cutting tools to ensure optimal performance.
Monitor tool life and recommend replacements when necessary.
Keep an organized inventory of cutting tools and related accessories.


Quality Control and Inspection:Conduct in-process inspections to verify part dimensions and surface finishes.
Use precision measuring instruments to perform accurate dimensional and geometric measurements.
Identify and address any deviations from specifications or quality standards.
Collaborate with quality control teams to resolve any non-conformances.
Follow quality control procedures and maintain accurate documentation.


Documentation and Reporting:Maintain accurate records of production activities, including machine settings, tooling, and inspection results.
Report any issues, equipment malfunctions, or deviations from specifications to supervisors.
Provide input for process improvements, equipment upgrades, or tooling enhancements.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to provide feedback on manufacturability and feasibility.


Safety and Compliance:Adhere to safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Identify and mitigate potential hazards or risks in the machining environment.
Follow safety guidelines for material handling, machine operation, and maintenance activities.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
