Job Description:
**STARTING HOURLY RATE IS $15.33 PER
HOUR***DescriptionCoordinates activities of workers engaged in
verifying and keeping records on incoming & outgoing shipments and
preparing items for shipment seven days per week. Establishes and
coordinates departmental activities to meet objectives to coincide
with plant goals.Essential Functions and Job
ResponsibilitiesEnsures inventory accuracy for raw materials under
position's control.Understands shipping notices, bills of lading,
invoices, miscellaneous shippers and other records to determine
shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods
required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.Requires
knowledge of domestic and international shipping and use of online
shipping methodsEnsures compliance with all DOT
regulations.Correctly classify and label hazardous material
shipmentsEnsures compliance with all import and export Government
rules and regulations. Submit export paperwork to freight
forwarders.Local Plant liaison for import export compliance, train
plant employees as necessary.Determines space requirements and
position of shipment in trucks & lays out position of
shipment.Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks,
according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
Schedules customer funded trucks. Schedules expedited shipments as
required.Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with
shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors.Inspects
material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance
personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.Maintains
vehicle maintenance report.Directs movement of shipments from
shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areasMaintains
inventory of all shipping supplies, including boxes, packing
material, tape labels and any special suppliesProvide inventories
of customer reusable containers.Develops and recommends annual
budget requirements for the Warehouse and Receiving Department.
Anticipate and request funding for future personnel requirements.
Anticipate and request funding for future material handling
equipment.May assist workers in shipping and receiving
activities.Suggests changes in working conditions and use of
equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work
crew.Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in
solving work problems.Initiates or suggests plans to motivate
workers to achieve work goals.Maintains time and production
records.Establishes project plans and coordinates activities for
continuous improvement initiatives.Makes recommendations for hiring
/ firing and promotions of his/her employees.Completes performance
evaluations on his/her employees.Maintains measurements for
department performance.Performs disciplinary action for his/her
employees.Responsible for training and mentoring team leaders for
their individual development.Must comply with all company
attendance policies and guidelines; this includes, but is not
limited to, regular attendance and occasional
overtime.QualificationsEducation:This position requires a minimum
of a High School diploma/G.E.D.Skills and Abilities :Understanding
of shipping notices, bill of lading, invoices. Knowledge of
government import - export rules and regulations.Reads and
interprets documents such as EHS policies, operating and
maintenance instructions, and activity instructions. Writes routine
reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before
groups of customers or employees of the organization.Ability to
prepare and recommend departmental budget requirements. Ability to
use excel spreadsheets to prepare reports to management. Ability to
add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using
whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute
rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar
graphs.Solves practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Must be able to use independent judgment.Experience :This position
requires a minimum of one-year related experience and/or
training.Minimum of two years continuous work experience post high
school.Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United
States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at
the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this
position.This position is subject to the International Traffic in
Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR
