Jacobs has partnered with NASA to support space flight programsfor more than 40 years. While the majority of work is directly in support of LaRC, other industry partners and Government agencies may be supported at remote sites as directed by the Contracting Officer (CO). The Center Maintenance, Operations, andEngineering (CMOE) contract comprises of three major categories of work ? operations, maintenance, andengineering (OME), as described below. ?Maintenance ? Research and institutional facility maintenance includes, but not limited to, preventive maintenance, trouble calls, repairs, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Facility Condition Assessment (FCA), and maintenance/operation of central utilities (e.g., electrical power distribution, potable water, stormwater drainage) ?Operations ? Facilities Operations support includes, but not limited to, wind tunnels, laboratories, and test stands testing, instrumentation calibration/repair; plant and utilities (e.g., high pressure air, Liquid Nitrogen (LN2) and Steam Plant);technology development and administration, including, but not limited to, Facility Automation Systems (FAS)andData AcquisitionSystems (DAS) ?Engineering ? Facility engineering includes, but not limited to, engineering studies, design, construction, construction management, configuration management, tacticalengineering, pressure system recertification, project management/planning support. Responsibilities: Serves as the Facility Engineerfor the Computational Research Facility (CRF) and Measurement SciencesLaboratory (MSL) at NASA Langley Research Center. The position is responsible forthe architectural and structural components of the facility, and the properoperation of HVAC, plumbing, fire suppression, and electrical systems. Tasks include customer interaction,management of contractors for minor construction or warranty repairs, andresponse to building or system incidents. The Facility Engineer willperform the following functions: * Ensure thebuilding and its energy systems (HVAC, lighting, electrical) are operatingproperly, efficiently, and are well maintained. * Write andpresent various reports (weekly and monthly) on facility system operations,energy usage and maintenance. * Identify and correct operations that cancause loss of performance, inefficient use of consumables, and equipmentfailures or shutdowns * Addresswarranty issues that may arise. * Ensure anymodification or repair to the building is consistent with good engineeringpractice. * Ensuresafe operation of the facility and a safe environment for occupants. U.S. Citizenship required. BS degree from an ABET accredited school in Mechanical Engineering or Architecture and eight (8) to twelve (12) years related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an ABET accredited school and seven (7) to ten (10) years of related engineering experience or Ph.D. from an ABET accredited school and two (2) to five (5) years of related engineering experience. LEED AccreditedProfessional is preferred but not mandatory. Excellent oral and writtencommunication skills to communicate facility issues to client and to developweekly and monthly reports on facility status. EssentialFunctions: Work Environment Office environment. (85%) Test/Industrial Environment- Maybe exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals and industrial facilities. Travel between facilities and test sites is required. Travel betweenvarious facilities/test operations is required and may bring exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation. Equipment and Machine: Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) (50%) Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (20%) Physical Requirements: The ability to enter into confined spaces, crawl into or onto various assemblies while maintaining a clear vision of safety is required. Potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous chemicals, propellants and the like. Appropriate PPE andtraining will be provided for all conditions. Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs.
