opportunities to achieve personal success. JOB SUMMARY: The HVAC
EMCS (Energy Management Control System) Mechanic is responsible for
the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of
heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems
as well as the operation and optimization of energy management
control systems (EMCS). This role ensures the efficient operation
of HVAC and EMCS equipment to maintain optimal environmental
conditions in commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings at
the United States Coastguard (USCG) Training Center in Yorktown, VA
in an efficient and effective manner. This position is with Brevard
Achievement Center Enterprises (BACE), which is a subsidiary of
Brevard Achievement Center (BAC). EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The list of essential functions below is intended to be
representative of the tasks performed within this job. Other duties
may be assigned based on business needs. Install, maintain, and
repair HVAC systems, including air handlers, chillers, boilers,
pumps, and ductwork. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and
electrical issues in HVAC systems and controls. Operate, calibrate,
and program EMCS to optimize energy efficiency and maintain
building comfort. Perform system diagnostics and make necessary
adjustments to enhance performance and efficiency. Read and
interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical
manuals. Conduct preventive maintenance on HVAC and EMCS equipment
to ensure reliability and longevity. Work with building automation
systems (BAS) to monitor and control HVAC operations. Coordinate
with engineers, contractors, and other technicians to ensure proper
system integration. Maintain records of repairs, maintenance
schedules, and system performance data Follow safety protocols and
ensure compliance with local, state, and federal HVAC regulations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed
by the State of Virginia as a Journeyman HVAC Mechanic. Minimum of
at least 5 years’ experience on commercial heating/air
conditioning/refrigeration systems and controls. Minimum of 3-5
years of experience with EMCS or BAS. Strong understanding of
mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic HVAC control systems. Must be
able to pass a background screening for access to the work areas.
Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must be able to
pass a Motor Vehicle background screening. Proficiency in
troubleshooting, repairing, and programming of energy management
systems. Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Must be authorized
to work in the U.S. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed by the State
of Virginia as a Master HVAC Mechanic EPA Universal Refrigerant
Handling Certification preferred. Trane, York, or McQuay factory
chiller certified preferred. In addition to meeting the minimum
qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform
each of the established essential functions in order to perform
this job successfully. OTHER CONSIDERATIONS: In-depth knowledge of
HVAC systems, electrical systems, and refrigerants. Proficiency in
troubleshooting and repair techniques. Familiarity with safety
standards and building codes. Ability to work independently and
collaboratively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving
skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and
documentation skills. Must be able and willing to work outside of
normal working hours in the event of unplanned outages. Ability to
read and understand schematics and blueprints. Must be able to
provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner.
Completes assigned work on or before deadlines in accordance with
prescribed procedures. Accepts supervisory instruction and
direction and strives to meet the goals and objectives of same.
Attends work regularly and adheres to policies and procedures
regarding absences and tardiness. Provides adequate notice for
time-off requests. TRAVEL: Travel is not required for this position
WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE (IF APPLICABLE): Government
clearance required for access to work sites PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires the following: repetitive lifting,
push/pull, carrying, walking, climbing ladders, squatting,
kneeling, and prolonged standing. Will involve working in confined
spaces and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds. Reasonable
accommodations, when practical, can be offered to accomplish the
above requirements. SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Tasks
are performed inside and outside with possible exposure to adverse
environmental conditions (e.g., dirt, heat, cold, rain, fumes).
Will need to use any personal protective (safety) equipment as
designated properly and consistently. Some tasks may be performed
independently with little supervision. SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Tasks
require manual dexterity, in addition to visual and hearing acuity.
Availability: Full Time days, between 6:30am - 5:30pm On Call
Salary: $47.72 per hour Benefits: Group Medical, Dental, Vision,
